Description
KTVU News footage from April 1968 featuring a press conference by Oakland Chief of Police Charles Gain who angrily refutes claims by the Black Panther Party that the police shooting of Panther member Bobby Hutton on April 6th was unlawful. He declares: "The Black Panther Party poses a real threat to the peace and tranquility of the city of Oakland. Caliing the police 'murderers' calling them 'fascist pigs' ... is ridiclous!" Gains describes the police findings on the shooting of Bobby Hutton stating that "police conduct" was "lawful". He also displays a flyer featuring Bobby Hutton on it which claims he was killed by police and dismisses it as "Junk!" Gain goes on to show other Panther literature holding it up to the cameras and labelling it as "ridiculous lies." Opening graphic designed by Carrie Hawks.
