Episode from KRON-TV's Decades series made in 1997 which uses original news footage and contemporary interviews to reflect on Bay Area history from the 1940s including issues relating to: the rapid growth of San Francisco; the Golden Gate International Exposition; World War II; sports; the ship building industry; the internment of Japanese American citizens; the movies and the United Nations Conference on International Organization (UNCIO). Also features interviews with: Herb Caen; Edmund G. Brown Sr.; Anna Logan Upton; Precious Mack; Dave Tatsuno; K. Morgan Yamanaka; Rose Pistola and Milli Robbins. This program was written and produced by Pamela Rorke-Levy edited by Susan Burgess-Lent and narrated by Sidney Walker. This Emmy Award winning series traced the rich history of San Francisco from the Gold Rush to the 21st Century. Opening graphic designed by Carrie Hawks.
