Network outages July 21–24
Some parts of the Library will have no internet for a few days. You can still visit and check out books.
Our network equipment is getting an essential upgrade, which will require a series of planned outages in the coming week.
The work will proceed floor by floor, from the basement to the top of the building. All floors will be open as usual. Only network access will change.
We expect a complete loss of connectivity — both wired and wireless access — between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. on the specified floors each day:
- Tuesday, July 21: Ground and first floors
- Wednesday, July 22: Second and third floors
- Thursday, July 23: Fourth floor
- Friday, July 24: No planned outages
If the work takes longer than expected, that schedule may shift. We will update the “NETWORK OUTAGES” line on the Library Hours page when we get new information.
We will still check out books and other materials at the Book Checkout & Pickup Desk on the first floor on Tuesday. We’ll just use pencil-and-paper methods until the system is back online. (#offlinesummer)
Based on the planned schedule, our Library Retrieval System will also be offline Tuesday and may need to be rebooted. If you request something in OneSearch and get an automatic email reply with an error message, please try your request again the next day. You can also ask a librarian for help or clarification.
