  • Crafternoon-style crafting pop-ups

  • Info hubs with research tips and campus support resources on the first and second floors

  • Visiting therapy dogs on May 12 — details below!

An earlier version of this page listed the Library’s summer hours incorrectly. We fixed the mistake Tuesday, May 19.

Finals Film Fest

In between studying for finals, drop in for any part of our three-day movie marathon on the second floor of the Library!

All movies are in Spanish with English subtitles. Some movies will be screened more than once. Light refreshments will be provided.

Tuesday

Gigantes descalzos

(2017; 1 hour 6 minutes; México)

A basketball team of indigenous Mexican children, from areas of academic and economic precariousness that typically force emigration to the United States, wants to make history by playing opponents in far-off countries. Through the story, we come to understand the children’s difficult economic situation and their inspiring desire to overcome.

Corazón de mezquite

(2019; 1 hour 14 minutes; México)

In a remote Yoreme village in Northern Mexico, Lucía dreams of playing the harp to soothe her father’s broken heart. But she faces a challenge: the harp is a sacred instrument for men only in her community. Will she defy tradition and follow her passion?

Violeta al fin

(2017; 1 hour 25 minutes; México)

Violeta lives a quiet life at 70, far from her ex-husband, enjoying her retirement activities and surrounded by her family who visit her in her wonderful home, until something unexpected is about to happen to her most precious possession.

Wednesday

Sara, amor y revolución

(2023; 1 hour 36 minutes; México)

The politically active Sara Pérez Romero from Queretaro fights, together with her husband, President Francisco I Madero, for the restoration of democracy in Mexico. Sara, strong-willed since she was a child, lived with the workers on her father’s farm, which made her reflect on the social differences in Mexico. She later studied in California, embracing liberal and democratic ideals that would accompany her throughout her life

Los jinetes del tiempo

(2020; 1 hour 40 minutes; México)

A group of rural actors reenacts the historic moment when Emiliano Zapata and Pancho Villa took over Mexico City in 1914. As they travel from their village in Morelos to the capital, they encounter the past and the present of Mexico. It is a documentary that contrasts the realities of then and now. It shows the Mexico that was and that still is. It also hints at the future of Mexico.

La poeta del ring

(2021; 1 hour 35 minutes; México)

Laura Serrano, a fiery lawyer, defied the law and practiced women’s boxing in Mexico, when it was banned. She fought to legalize the sport, but after many years she gave up everything for a new spiritual quest.
