Description
KPIX-TV news footage from March 27 with reporter Christopher Chow, 1973 featuring views of wild parrots which have been spotted all over Redwood City in San Mateo County. Also includes an interview with a Peninsula Humane Society officer, who comments that: "We've had no complaints about them." Chou points out these parrots can live for a long time and speculates: "Perhaps the yellow head parrots will become part of the peninsula wildlife." Note that an article on p.2 of the San Francisco Chronicle newspaper from March 28, 1973 by Larry Liebert states that the "wild parrots of Redwood City" were commonly sighted and a parrot trainer at Marine World Africa USA (Mike Flagg) favored the theory that a group of these birds escaped from a pet store shipment at San Francisco airport.
