Description
KPIX-TV news footage from November 21, 1972 featuring scenes of Belva Davis and other broadcast journalists reporting from the top of the Sutro Tower, which is nearing completion. There are views of the structure and of San Francisco, an interview with one of the construction engineers and reflections from Davis, as she rides 700ft. up and looks out from "an open air basket" on a foggy day. The Ch.5 camera operator was Dave Ambriz and you can read about this location shoot on pp. 132-133 in Belva Davis's autobiography Never in My Wildest Dreams: A Black Woman's Life in Journalism.
