Description
KPIX-TV news footage from December 1 1971 with reporter Ed Arnow featuring a court case brought by San Francisco's Street Artist Guild against the city, challenging the police permit procedure to sell crafts on sidewalks and the appeals process. A superior court judge had issued an injunction 6 weeks ago preventing police from enforcing this permit procedure and there followed a proliferation of street artists and peddlers selling their wares around San Francisco. Includes views of a crowded Union Square and interviews with the Street Artist's attorney Bob Kantor, San Francisco's Chief of Police Donald M. Scott and a local merchant unsympathetic to the street artists case. Opening graphic designed by Carrie Hawks.
