Description
KRON-TV news footage from April 28th 1965 with reporter Art Brown featuring silent and sound views of lawyer Melvin Belli and topless dancers and club owners leaving Belli's law offices and heading to court in downtown San Francisco, where they are on trial accused of violating US obscenity laws. Includes an interview with Belli, who claims that if topless dancing was banned in North Beach, the resulting l loss of jobs would effectively shut down the Broadway entertainment strip. There are also interviews with a club owner (referred to as "Chris") and topless dancer Carol Doda (1937-2015). Opening graphic designed by Carrie Hawks.
