Description
KRON-TV news footage from May 23, 1976 featuring scenes from an interview with a reporter from the San Francisco Examiner - unidentified as yet - who reflects on the suicide yesterday of Franklyn ("Frank") K. Brann, the personal attorney of Mayor George Moscone. He states: "I feel terribly sorry for Mr Brann's family. I feel terribly sorry for what happened. But I do not feel a sense of guilt about it. I feel that we did what we had to do as investigative journalists and I don't see how you can do that any other way, than the way we did it in the first place." After Moscone announced his plans to name Brann as the General Manager of San Francisco's Public Utilities Department, the Examiner ran a story revealing that the IRS and California State Bar had ongoing investigations into some of Brann's business activities. The 50-year old Brann, who was also a 2-time candidate for the California State Assembly, was found dead in his car yesterday, on a side road off Felton Empire Grade in the Bonny Doon area of the Santa Cruz mountains, of an apparent suicide.
