Picketing outside Opera House in support of Elayne Jones

KRON-TV news footage from June 15 1974 featuring brief views of picketing outside the War Memorial Opera House in San Francisco, in support of Timapnist Elayne Jones receiving tenure from the San Francisco Symphony. Elayne Jones joined the San Francisco Symphony (SFS) in 1972 and was first denied tenure by the 7-person SFS Players Committee after a standard 2-year probationary period in May 1974. Jones filed a lawsuit claiming racial and sexual discrimination, which she dropped after receiving another provisional year and vote on tenure. When she was refused tenure a second time Jones filed another law suit, which was eventually dismissed by the court in 1977. Also includes shots of Jones playing the Timpani. Note: this 16mm film print was transferred in 4K (4096 x 2970) using a Lasergraphics ScanStation film scanner, in December 2021. Film shrinkage was measured in Dec. 2021 at 0.30%.
