Description
KRON-TV news footage from September 18, 1966 featuring scenes from the offical opening ceremony of the Oakland Coliseum stadium in Oakland and the Oakland Raiders first game there, against the Kansas City Chiefs. Several fans are interviewed and share how they feel about the new stadium, as prior to this the Raiders had been playing home games at Frank Youll Field, near Lake Merritt, which seated 22,000. Note that there were 50,000 spectators in attendence at this game and the Raiders lost 32-10. Opening graphic designed by Carrie Hawks.
