Description
KPIX news footage from February 21st 1973 featuring an update by reporter Peter Burns on numerous recent murders in the Santa Cruz area. He states that: "Police in Santa Cruz are not expecting a fast, dramatic solution to the trio of butcherings" and points out that although Herbert Mullin is prime suspect in the latest killings, "Mullin's alleged connection with death does not involve the cutting up of the victims." The mutilated corpses of young women that Burns is referring to are in fact the work of serial killer Edmund Kemper, who will only end his cycle of murders and confess to authorities in April. Mullin was eventually convicted of murdering 10 people in Santa Cruz county and both he and Kemper are still incarcerated as of June 2018 for the murders they committed in 1972/3.
