Description
KPIX News footage from December 1966 featuring a press conference with comedian and actor Mort Sahl, who reflects on the impact of celebrity movie stars running for political office, including figures such as Ronald Reagan and Chuck Connors. He points out that: "The TV Academy in Hollywood recently had a panel of 7 people discussing whether actors should run. And all the good liberals stood up and said it's wrong. But they wouldn't if it was Robert Ryan or Robert Vaughn or Steve Allen. They just don't like Republicans running." It's worth noting that the voice of the KPIX reporter heard off-camera asking questions about Ronald Reagan is Nancy Clark, who transitioned from KPIX reporter to being Reagan's Assistant Press Secretary shortly after this interview. Ends with silent views from inside the press conference. Opening graphic designed by Carrie Hawks.
