Description
KPIX-TV news footage from September 20, 1966 with reporter Rollin Post featuring views of Lady Bird Johnson visiting the newly created Point Reyes National Seashore in Marin County, to formally dedicate the nation's newest national park at Drakes Beach. Includes brief scenes from Johnson's speech to a large crowd, in which she declares: "This is one of the most enjoyable evenings in my memory. With the light glinting off the surf and the vitality of those tides. I cherish the opportunity to be in Marin County, where conservation is a way of life." Note that the TV Archive was one of the community partners for The Lady Bird Diaries, which had it's California premiere at the DocLands Documentary Film Festival on May 11, 2023.
