Description
KPIX-TV news footage from September 21, 1966 with reporter Rollin Post featuring scenes of Lady Bird Johnson visiting Colton Hall in Monterey, on her conservation tour. Includes views of large crowds and a speech by Johnson, in which she emphasizes how: "Standing here at Colton Hall, the cradle of government in California, I am well aware of your proud past ... I am impressed with what you have done to preserve it's colorful history and bountiful beauty of the Big Sur country. You had a master plan!" Note that the TV Archive was one of the community partners for The Lady Bird Diaries, which had its California premiere at the DocLands Documentary Film Festival on May 11, 2023.
