Poet on Third Street: "Stop, think and listen."

KRON News footage from September 29th 1966 featuring scenes of a man reciting part of a poem on Third Street in the Bayview Hunters Point neighborhood which is in the grip of a social uprising. Teenager Matthew 'Peanut' Johnson was killed by police on September 27th residents are protesting and the National Guard has been called out. Surrounded by local residents (including Adam Rogers) the speaker comments that: "I am here today my brothers to speak to you of truth and ignorance do you do what you do / Will not another brother know just how you must feel. This is wrong but it's so very very real / Don't take it upon yourself to enter this jungle alone. Without a leader you can't last very long / Sure something has to be done and something shall be done / This is not a plaything you're doing though it might seem to be a whole lot of fun / Stop think and listen. Don't take it upon yourself to make unwise decision / What has been done has been done."
