Description
Assignment Four documentary film made by KRON-TV in 1964 narrated by Jerry Jensen and produced in cooperation with the San Mateo County Department of Public Health and Welfare about the cultural impact medical implications and experimental uses of the psychedelic drug lysergic acid diethylamide (LSD). Includes interviews with: Dr. Joseph J. Downing M.D. who discusses the potential uses of LSD in psychotherapy; Dr. Leo Hollister of the Veterans Administration Hospital at Palo Alto; Dr Wilson Van Dusen (Mendocino State Hospital); Rabbi Alvin Fine (Congregation Emmanu-El in San Francisco) and others. Also features scenes of a woman being interviewed by Dr. Downing whilst under the influence of LSD. This film was written and produced by Don Heath edited by Nikki Williams and directed by Vern Loden. Al Kihn was the cameraman. Note: this film contains impressionistic camera work which is intended to suggest the hallucinogenic effects of LSD.
