Description
A compilation of 16 newsfilm reports from 1958 selected by KRON-TV in that year to showcase the camera work of Dale McGill and Charles Stanyan. Features excerpts from the following stories: a downtown tickertape parade for the San Francisco Giants; a jail break from Alcatraz; flooding in Kentfield (Marin County); an interview with former fugitive Gerald E. Botham; an airboat crash in Alameda; an electronic music concert at the San Francisco Planetarium; the USS Nautilus submarine in San Francisco Bay; the Thor missile site at Vandenberg Air Force Base (Santa Barbara County); the US Air Force's new F-104 Starfighter jet; the final crossing of the San Leandro ferryboat steamer from Oakland to San Francisco; scenes from inside the murder trial of Elaine Solez in Redwood City; a visit to San Francisco by President Eisenhower; a wife talking to her deported husband (calling her from Finland); an interview with Paul E. Anderson the world's strongest man; the San Francisco Animal Shelter and an attempt by San Francisco's juvenile clubs to combine into an officially recognized council. All of these stories are prefaced by on-screen title cards which provide specific shooting dates.
