Description
KPIX Eyewitness news report from the Oakland Audiotorium on September 18th 1969 at the Black Panthers' first national conference on anti-fascism. Reporter Mike Lee describes the conference as "unconventional" but also "well organized and orderly" and speculates that this conference may represent a turning point for the nations' student radicals and minority groups. Includes footage of Huey P. Newton's lawyer Edward M. Keating who talks to the audience about a recent trip to see Newton in prison. Also features exterior shots of conference attendees milling around the steps of the Oakland Auditorium and concludes with silent footage of the conference underway.
