KPIX Eyewitness News report from February 16th 1973 by Bill Hillman featuring scenes of Navy Lt. Commander Everett Alvarez Jr. being welcomed home at Travis Air Force Base in Solano County (California) after being held for over 8 years in captivity by the North Vietnamese. On August 5th 1964 during Operation Pierce Arrow Alvarez's plane was shot down in the immediate aftermath of the Gulf of Tonkin Incident. Includes views of Alvarez making a speech in which he states that: "We dreamed of this day and we kept faith. Faith in God in our President and in our country. It was this faith that maintained our hope ... We have come home."
