KPIX Eyewitness News report from December 5th 1970 in Salinas (Monterey County CA) featuring views of United Farm Worker members keeping a vigil outside the jail where their leader Cesar Chavez is detained. Also includes scenes of his wife Helen Chavez reading a statement from Cesar to reporters in which he explains: "I am prepared to pay the price for civil disobedience. I am still very committed; not bitter at all." She goes on to confirm that Cesar is in fine spirits and she's just given him a book about Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi to read.
