Description
KPIX-TV news footage from July 17, 1972 with reporter Mike Lee featuring scenes from the Mission Playground tennis courts off Linda Street in San Francisco's Mission District, where local youth are receiving free tennis lessons from Roberto Diaz, a tennis pro at Roundhill Golf and Country Club (Alamo CA). Diaz is collaborating on this project with ULAC (United Latin American Citizens) and will be teaching 1-day per week for 5-weeks. Includes an interview with Diaz who grew up in the Mission District, explaining why he's volunteering his services and views of youths being coached by Diaz and his assistant. Note there are still tennis courts next to Linda Road at the Mission Playground, as of 2024. Opening graphic designed by Carrie Hawks.
