Description
KRON-TV news footage from December 6, 1969 featuring scenes from a press conference by H.D. "Timm" Williams, leader of the Klamath River Yurok Indians, at Fisherman's Wharf in San Francisco. Williams had annouced that this press conference was to clear up any "misconceptions" about the goals of the occupation of Alcatraz Island by American Indians, which began in November. He talks about the nation's "guilt complex" over the occupation of Alcatraz and supports plans to establish a cultural center on the island. Opening graphic designed by Carrie Hawks.
