Description
KTVU News footage from August 1968 with Carlton Cordell reporting from Oakland on the trial of Huey P. Newton, who stands accused of shooting and killing Officer John Frey in a gun battle on October 28th 1967. Cordell describes how Officer Herbert Haines (shot 3 times during the incident) identified Newton in court. Note that Cordell refers to Haines as "Howard Haines." Also includes an interview with defense lawyer Edward M. Keating (founder of Ramparts magazine), who states it will be proved in court that Newton did not in fact shoot Frey.
