Description
KRON-TV news footage from February 7, 1979 in Martinez, Contra Costa County, featuring views of the East Area Rapist Taksforce working to apprehend the East Area Rapist. This taskforce consisted of 11 county detectives and was set up on December 12, 1978 to catch the man who had raped over 40 women in five counties from 1976-1979. After 2 months, we're told the taskforce is running out of leads and is appealing to the public for help. Includes an interview with a detective, who describes the suspect they're seaching for. Note that perpetrator Joseph James DeAngelo was finally arrested in 2018 and in 2020 was sentenced to life imprisonment for his crimes, without the possibility of parole.
