Description
Part I of a documentary special from 2002 narrated by Belva Davis about the life and death of George Lester Jackson, who gained notoriety in the fall of 1970 after his book "Soledad Brother" was published and was shot to death with 5 others at San Quentin prison on August 21, 1971 during an attempted escape. Davis tells us: "The story of George Jackson is a story of the dark side of America." Includes archival press conferences and contemporary interviews with: George Jackson; Paul Liberatore; Rev. Cecil Williams; Eric Cummins; Richard Nelson; Professor Angela Davis; James Park; Georgia Jackson; Fay Stender; Min Yee; Jane Fonda; Allan Mancino; Stephen Bingham.
