Description
KPIX-TV news footage from June 7, 1979 with reporter Bill Schechner (1941-2023) featuring brief scenes from an interview with US Drug Enforcement Administration Chief Daniel Addario, who comments on a recent series of raids on an alleged multimillion-dollar cocaine smuggling ring. Addario points out this success: "Shows that we're a lot more sophisticated than were were years ago, as far as narcotic enforcement is concerned. And if we have the capability of penetrating this outfit I think there are other outfits that we can possibly take a look at and immobilize, in the Bay Area." Note that those arrested as part of this operation included Ramiro Landelino Guerra, Executive Director of the Latin American Chamber of Commerce in San Francisco and 16 others.
