Classes remain closed at Merritt College

KRON-TV news footage from March 16, 1971 with reporter Mike Mills featuring scenes from Merrit College in Oakland, where some offices had been seized on Monday by a student coalition which wants the Grove Street campus to remain open and classes remain cancelled. Includes views of students picketing outside the campus and of officials - including Lionel J. Wilson - and Black Panther member Doug Miranda speaking at a press conference. Note that between 2:42-2:46 a Ch.4 camera operator focuses on a Bolex 16mm camera being held by a man and whispers: "I love you!" Opening graphic designed by Carrie Hawks.
