Description
KPIX-TV news footage from May 27 1968 with reporter Dave Monsees featuring an interview with President of the National Farmworkers Association César Chávez, who explains his intention to raise public awareness of their boycott of California grapes, to help secure better wages and working conditions for farmworkers. Chávez claims their hand was forced by: "A conspiracy by the governor and the immigration service and the growers to break our strike. We've worked too hard for it ... We have to win." He also states that if necessary, they will campaign internationally for consumers to support their boycott of California-grown grapes. Opening graphic designed by Carrie Hawks
