Description
KPIX-TV news footage from September 25, 1978 featuring brief scenes from the Paramount Theater in downtown Oakland, where it has just been announced that Calvin Simmons (1950-1982) has signed a 3-year contract as musical director of the Oakland Symphony Orchestra, effective with the 1979-80 season. Simmons, who will be the successor to Harold Farberman, is viewed onstage answering questions with the Symphony's manager Harold Lawrence.
