KPIX-TV news footage from September 30, 1970 with reporter Barry Tompkins featuring views of former world No. 1 women's tennis player Billie Jean King, playing a singles match against Eliza Pande in the Pacific Coast International Championships, at the Golden Gateway Tennis Center in San Francisco. Also includes scenes from an interview, in which she confirms that her knee is feeling much better after undergoing surgery in July and also explains how women tennis players have been collaborating to try and increase their prize money on the circuit, by signing a contract with World Tennis Magazine. Note that King beat Pande 6-4, 6-3 in this match and went on to lose in 3 sets, in the semi-finals, to eventual winner Nancy Richey. Opening graphic designed by Carrie Hawks.
