Aftermath of the Jonestown Mass Suicide

KPIX Eyewitness news footage from November 1978 featuring scenes from San Francisco in the aftermath of reports that the followers of Jim Jones have just committed mass suicide in Jonestown, Guyana. Includes views of: Marceline Jones speaking about her husband Jim Jones decision to stay in Guyana (prior to the tragedy); a spokesman stating that 1200 followers of the Peoples Temple had fled to Guyana in search of freedom and didn't want to leave; reporters at the San Francisco Examiner newspaper, working on this breaking story and trying to establish what's happening; an interview by Ed Arnow with the parents of journalist Tim Reiterman, who is believed to be injured but safe; a press conference by the Peoples Temple in which they denounce any violence and dismiss reports of a mass suicide, (described as "patently untrue") and of an angry woman trying to gain entry into a Peoples Temple compound, who says her mother was living in Jonestown.
