Description
KPIX-TV news footage from June 29, 1968 with reporter Ed Arnow, featuring scenes from the 2nd annual San Francisco Synanon street scene, at the Lombard and Sansome Street intersection. Includes views of: large crowds enjoying the fair; of jazz musician Donald Rafael Garrett playing a flute that he made; of a rock band performing; of children enjoying a puppet show and of various other stalls and attractions. Ends with Arnow getting the Eyewitness news logo painted onto his forehead, as he wraps up the report. It should be noted that according to the San Francisco Chronicle newspaper, this event raised over $270,000 for Synanon on the first day of it's 2-day run. Opening graphic designed by Carrie Hawks.

This 16mm negative film print was transferred in 4K (4096 x 2970) using a Lasergraphics ScanStation film scanner, in January 2023.
