Library Accounts & Cards

My Account

Sign in to My Account in OneSearch to see what you have currently checked out, renew Library items, check whether you have any Library fines, and more.

To sign in, you need a valid SFSU ID number and the password you use to log into your SFSU email or Canvas.

Library Borrowing Access

In order to borrow items from the Library, and to take advantage of other Library services such as the online databases, you must have an active nine-digit SFSU ID number.

SFSU students, faculty, and staff can use their OneCard or SFSU Mobile ID to check out physical items at the Book Checkout & Pickup Desk in the Library.

New Students, Staff & Faculty

After you get your new SFSU ID, sign in to OneSearch to see if your account is active. If you cannot sign in or receive a login error, contact circmail@sfsu.edu or stop by the Book Checkout & Pickup Desk to have your account activated.

Community Borrowers and Special Borrowers Cards

If you are not a current SFSU student, faculty, or staff member, you can join our Community Borrowers program for a yearly fee to gain access to borrow physical materials from the Library's collection.

Special Borrowers cards are also available at no additional charge to Alumni Association members, current students and faculty of other CSUs, OLLI and ElderCollege members, and certain other groups.

Public Use of the Library

Members of the general public are welcome to visit the Library and use some materials and services in person, including a limited number of public research stations with access to OneSearch and databases on the first, third, and fourth floors. No account or login is required.

Computer labs and printers require current SFSU ID, but copiers can be used by guests who purchase a guest card at an Add Value station. Learn more: Printing, Scanning, and Copying
