If you are not a current SFSU student, faculty member, or staff member but you belong to one of the categories listed below, you may qualify for a special borrowers card, which provides limited borrowing privileges for items in our circulating collections.
- Community Borrowers program member
- Current member of the Alumni Association
- College of Professional & Global Education (CPaGE) student without a OneCard
- Currently enrolled student at another CSU campus with a valid student ID
- Faculty member from another CSU campus
- Visiting faculty member currently employed by any college or university outside the CSU system, anywhere in the world, who holds current, valid identification issued by the home institution. If the current identification lacks a photo, another identification must be presented for photo verification of identity.

- AmeriCorps volunteer registered with SFSU
- Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) member
Most special borrowers will need to visit the Book Checkout & Pickup Desk to activate their account. Ask at the desk or email circmail@sfsu.edu for more information.
Special borrowers may not access library databases wirelessly or off campus and are not eligible for interlibrary loan services. Special borrowers also may not use library computer labs or printers, which require SFSU login and authentication.
