Reserve a Room

The Library has 18 study rooms that you can reserve to study on your own or in a group. There are 12 rooms in the ground-floor Study Commons and six in the first-floor Research Commons, and two open collaborative spaces on the second floor. You can make one three-hour reservation per day, up to 72 hours in advance, during the Library’s open hours

It is possible to reserve a room on your phone, but not recommended.

  1. Go to the link above and sign in with your SF State ID and password.
  2. Click “Create a Reservation” (desktop) or “New Booking” (mobile).
  3. Find Group Study Rooms and click “Book Now.”
  4. Choose the time and date you want and click “Search.” Any rooms available at that time will appear. If there are no rooms available, click the “Schedule” tab to see open times.
  5. Click the green plus sign next to the room you want to reserve. A pop-up window should appear.
  6. Enter the number of people who will be using the room (enter at least 2 even if you are using it by yourself).
  7. Click “Add Room.”
  8. Click “Next Step.”
  9. Type anything in the “Session / Name” field — but choose something that you’ll be able to recognize later on! This will display as the title of your reservation in the system and on the screens in the Library.
  10. Leave “Session / Type” as Study Session.
  11. Choose your Group from the dropdown.
    1. If Group is blank, click the magnifying glass and search for “Students.”
    2. If you’re using a phone and the magnifying glass does not appear,  try rotating your phone screen so the display is wider, or enable the “Desktop site.” Click the magnifying glass and search for “Students.”
  12. Choose Students; click “Close.”
  13. Enter your SFSU email address (don’t worry about the phone or fax).
  14. Check the box agreeing to the terms and conditions.
  15. Click “Create Reservation.”
  16. Congrats, you reserved a room! You will receive a confirmation via email. You can go straight to the room when it’s time.

Faculty and staff can reserve the Events Room (LIB 121) and Teaching and Learning Commons (LIB 286) up to twice a month, up to six months in advance. Classroom request policies vary by room.

Study Room Policies
