Description
KPIX-TV news footage from October 16 1975 with reporter Ed Arnow featuring an interview with street artist puppeteer Bob Clark (holding a puppet of President Richard Nixon) who complains that despite getting himself arrested "to challenge the legality of the Kopp ordinance", he's been unable to challenge the ordinance because authorities won't verify that he broke the law. Also includes views of street artists trading on the sidewalk and being arrested by police (at a different location). Arnow ends by pointing out that the issue of whether street artists should face restrictions on where they can trade - and how many can trade - will only be resolved at the ballot box, after voters choose between Proposition L and Proposition M next month. Opening graphic designed by Carrie Hawks.
