Description
KPIX-TV news footage from March 12 1977 with reporter Bob Navarro featuring views of civil rights activist and organizer Stokely Carmichael speaking at the College of San Mateo on behalf of The All African People's Revolutionary Party, as part of a speaking tour of the US (he currently lives in Guinea, Africa). Also includes scenes from a brief interview with Carmichael in which he ruefully acknowledges time has passed since the 1960s and advocates for "Pan Africanism", which he identifies as being: "The only solution for the liberation of the Africans scattered all over the world." Ends with voice-over only from Navarro, who summarizes Carmichael's living situation and the purpose of his US tour. Opening graphic designed by Carrie Hawks.
