Episode from KRON-TV's Emmy Award winning Decades series made in 1997 and presented by Suzanne Shaw which uses original news footage and contemporary interviews to reflect on Bay Area history from the 1980s including issues relating to: the threat of nuclear war; relations with the Soviet Union; Central American conflict and the growth of the Bay Area's Latino population; immigration; AIDS; sports; the financial and music industry; the home computer revolution; the advent of crack cocaine and the 1989 earthquake. Also features interviews with Senator Dianne Feinstein; Armistead Maupin; Ian Therman; David Hartsough; Brian Wilson; Chuck Frutchey; Larry Geis; Ralph Stone; Judi Iranyi-Stone; Dr Paul Volberding; Alison Moed; Dr. Mervyn Silverman; Gary Tyrrel; Bill Walsh; Joe Montana; Huey Lewis; Mayor Willie Brown; Steve Wozniak; Art Agnos and Rev. Cecil Williams. This program was written and produced by Stacy Waters narrated by Wendy Tokuda and edited by Jim Joy. Note: this was also referred to as the Bay Area 2000 series.
