Description
KRON-TV news footage from April 17, 1968 with reporters Frank Dill and Mel Alberts featuring scenes from the Oakland Coliseum, where the Oakland A's are playing their first ever baseball game at the stadium against the Baltimore Orioles. Includes views of a mounted drill team; Miss California; A's mascot Charlie O; Governor Roanald Reagan; pitcher Lew Kruasse and umpire Emmett Ashford. Also includes a brief interview with Ronald Reagan. As Dill puts it: "It was a historic event all right, the first major league baseball game ever played in the Oakland Coliseum!" Note that the Orioles won by 4-1 and there was a crowd of 50,164 in attendance. Opening graphic designed by Carrie Hawks.
