Montage: A visit with Calvin Simmons (1979)

An episode of KTVU's Montage show from 1979, written and produced by Johnny Barnes Selvin, featuring the life and work of American symphony orchestra conductor Calvin Simmons (1950-1982). Simmons is is just starting his tenure as the 5th music director of the Oakland Symphony, in their 46th season. Includes views of Simmons being interviewed at his San Francisco apartment, of Simmons teaching children and conducting the orchestra. There are also many interviews with others who comment on Simmons's career and development, including his mother Mattie Pearl Simmons.
