Description
KPIX-TV news footage from September 21, 1966 with reporter Ben Williams featuring scenes of Lady Bird Johnson visiting the Hearst Castle at San Simeon, in San Louis Obispo County. Includes views of Johnson with Governor Pat Brown and Bernice Layne Brown, dining with actor Danny Kaye and meeting with actress Carol Channing and KPIX GM Louis S. Simon. Lady Bird Johnson drove down earlier to San Simeon on Highway 1 from Monterey and left by airplane for Arizona. Note that the TV Archive was one of the community partners for The Lady Bird Diaries, which had its California premiere at the DocLands Documentary Film Festival on May 11, 2023.
