Description
KRON-TV documentary film from 1970 narrated by Ed Hart about San Francisco's Fleishacker Zoo which includes scenes of: food being prepared; of many animals in their enclosures (including the elephants Maybelle and Lulu); a grizzly bear eating one of the coyotes which it shared an enclosure with before being driven away from the carcass by water hoses; Carroll Soo-Hoo and his wife (animal donors) playing with baby Orangutans; Storybook Land and the Children's Zoo. Also features views of San Diego Zoo which is used to illustrate the relative lack of funding at Fleishacker and an interview with zoo Director Ronald Reuther who explains why the recent introduction of a 50 Cents admission was necessary to increase revenue. This film was edited by Mike Morgan and written produced and directed by Cap Weinberger Jr. The cameraman was Walter Nash.
