Mayor Alioto announces Anti-Hoodlum Patrol

KPIX Eyewitness news report from April 29th 1969 featuring a press conference given by San Francisco Mayor Joseph Alioto who announces an intensification of San Francisco's "crusade on crime" after an April 28th raid on the Black Panther Party's headquarters following an incident that began when a member of the Party aimed a gun at a policeman. Mayor Alioto announces that within the week 150 additional police will be put on the streets to form an "anti-hoodlum patrol" claiming that the officers are a threat "only to the lawless." Alioto goes on to claim that "the Panthers don't represent constructive change they don't represent the black community" and vows to continue "strong action against them."
