KPIX Eyewitness News report from March 27th 1967 by Rollin Post in Sacramento which considers the proposed cuts to mental health care in California announced by Governor Ronald Reagan. Includes an interview with Senator Alan Short (co-author of the Short-Doyle Act of 1957) who expresses concern about these cuts and the debate surrounding them: "I believe ... it's done more to ruin morale of the workers within the state hospital system than any other move that's been made by this current administration." Also features an interview with Governor Reagan at San Francisco airport who reflects that: "I've just come to the conclusion that everybody wants a cut in the size and cost of government until you try to cut the size and cost of government. And then the only people who are left who want that cut are the people."
