Description
KPIX Eyewitness news report from February 6th 1970 featuring an official discussing a recent incident involving a disturbance caused by an imprisoned Black Panther Party member as he was being transported from jail to a court appearance. The official describes the attack and notes that it resulted in the injury of six deputies and that he expects future disturbances claiming that "disorder is typical of their operation." Also contains footage from a press conference held on January 13th 1970 featuring prominent African American lawyer and federal judge Cecil F. Poole discussing the Black Panther Party. Poole says "the government feels that the Black Panthers represent the same kind of menace that did the Communist Party of the United States in the early 1950s and late 1940s and intend to treat them the same way" and remarks that he believes the government would like to "put them out of business."
