Description
KTVU news footage from October 5, 1967 with reporter Gary E. Park in San Francisco, featuring a press conference by the Grateful Dead, who are objecting to marijuana drug laws and media stereotypes after their recent arrest for possession on Monday 2 October, at 710 Ashbury Street. Co-managers Dan Rifkin and Rock Scully answer questions from the media and all the band members are present. Note that the Grateful Dead served coffee with whipped cream, home made cookies and cake to reporters and are scheduled to be up in court on October 27, before municipal Judge Harry W. Long. This reel was heavily edited by KTVU, before what 16mm film elements survived were passed to us in the 1990s. Opening graphic designed by Carrie Hawks.
