KRON-TV news footage from July 7, 1968 featuring silent and sound views of a Free Huey Rally at DeFremery Park in West Oakland, to help suppoprt Huey P Newton. Includes scenes of crowds and of speakers on a platform, including Kathleen Cleaver, Ruth Hagwood and William Lee Brent. Opening graphic designed by Carrie Hawks.
This 16mm film reel was kindly donated to the TV Archive by David Webb Peoples in April 2023, who used to work as a film editor for KRON in the 1960s.
This 16mm reversal film print was transferred in 4K (4096 x 2970) using a Lasergraphics ScanStation film scanner, in May 2024.
