Darth Vader signs merchandise at The Emporium

KPIX-TV news footage from June 24, 1977 featuring brief scenes of Darth Vader signing Star Wars promotional merchandise at The Emporium, in downtown San Francisco, in front of a large crowd. According to the S.F. Examiner newspaper Kermit Bryce Eller was inside the Darth Vader costume, serving as a touring model for this public appearance. Star Wars premiered at the Northpoint Theatre in San Francisco on May 1, 1977 and was released in the U.S. on May 25, 1977. Opening graphic designed by Carrie Hawks.

This 16mm reversal print was scanned in 4K (4096 x 2970) using a Lasergraphics ScanStation film scanner, in January 2025.
