Description
A KPIX news compilation from July to August 1976, assembled by KPIX producers, featuring an edit of several newsfilm reels covering the Chowchilla kidnapping story. Includes: press conferences by Alameda County Sheriff Tom Houchins and Madera County Sheriff Ed Bates; an interview with Sandy Zylstra, who was the last student to get off the school bus before it was seized by kidnappers; a press conference with bus driver Ed Ray, who describes what happened; views of the new command center at the Santa Rita Rehabilitation Center for capturing the 3 kidnappers; an interview with Judge Howard Green; scenes from the California Schools Association's annual convention, where Governor Jerry Brown presents Ed Ray with an Outstanding Service Award and ends with brief views of a procession in Chowchilla to honor Ed Ray. This 16mm reversal film print was transferred in 4K (4096 x 2970) using a Lasergraphics ScanStation film scanner, in September 2022.
